In the calculation of MRR, ARR and MRR

Previously upgrade, downgrades as well as add-ons, were sometimes not recorded or properly handled when it came to reporting on subscriptions. This issue has been fixed, and now calculations will improve in the coming years.

What changes should I expect to see In My Store?

If you're an avid use of upgrades, downgrades, or add-ons, you may see the MRR and ARR fluctuate little due to the new calculations. These calculations are more accurate as compared to previous reports with the fixes that have been identified. If you still have questions or concerns, you may contact [email protected].

Historical MRR Changes

In the past, we relied on to use the deactivation date to check for cancellation date and would then remove MRR contributions. This could have an unintended consequence of altering historical MRR value. To solve this the issue, we've updated our analysis to record cancellations on the day that cancellation occurs and eliminate MRR contribution on that day.

Example of Changes

We will consider the annual subscription which was activated in January 2023. It was cancelled in May 2023, later deactivated in the month of December 2023. In our prior MRR contribution calculation wouldn't be changed until the end of December 2023, potentially altering the MRR contribution during the time of May to December of 2023.

With the date from the example above this calculation instantly removes the MRR contribution of the contract, beginning at cancellation in May of 2023 and results in an more accurate MRR change calculation.

What changes should I expect to see in My Store?

In the case of some sellers, this may cause a slight increase in cancellation counts and an increase in the MRR of subscribers and customers who are active. If you're interested in more information about this reporting, please email [email protected].
