We sought out Titika about the key to creating her mysterious black and white photographs

"My moniker is Titika Rotkjaer; I am an artist hailing from Copenhagen, Denmark. After studies in communication from Roskilde University, Denmark, I moved to Norway to further my studies in visual art, first at the Oslo National Academy of the Arts and later, in Bergen in Bergen, where I concluded my visual art studies through the Bergen Academy of Art and Design with a MA in textile Art. I do not have formal instruction in photography. The knowledge I have about editing and photography comes from my ongoing self-education.

Are you interested in learning more about my personal style? Could I talk about the way I express myself instead? It's not my thing to think about fashion... I tell stories through a poetic and personal perspective Each image is a result of my concentrate on mood, expression, the mood. Developing how my images appear is a procedure. It is my goal to always refine and clear the meaning. Sometimes , I edit old photos if I gain new knowledge that allows me to move closer to the image I had in mind.

The key to making the mysterious images I have created ...? The majority of my photographs which I've made in the last four years - I've explored the complex and the self, and have a particular interest in the relationship between inner and outer realities. Some of my photographs - but not all - consist of digitally manipulated pictures (all are, naturally, shot by myself).

My method usually starts with an intrigue or interest in exploring a topic or a complex of emotions. I shoot, write notes and read to gain more knowledge, and continue to shoot. Making use of the photos often will lead me to create a new one out of many others. I experiment, subjectively, and intuitively with the theme to let my images unfold. It's difficult to have a clear vision of the final product within my head, but I do after that, I shoot the components to construct the picture."
