Overcome your fear of perfection: Learn from content creators

Oct 13, 2022

There's a good chance you've met someone who was unable to be able to finish their work because they believed that every aspect had to be flawless. But, perfection doesn't exist (truly). As a result, your work is left to be unfinished on their computers or studio. There is a chance that someone would consider it to be a waste of time because nobody gets to enjoy what the creator created.

The desire to be perfect can prove to be an obstacle for creatives as well as entrepreneurs. Based on a study from The Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, perfectionism is associated with "feelings of guilt, loss, and indecision, and also procrastination, depression, shame and low self-esteem." As a result, people have difficulty moving forward with their work or project - it is known as perfectionism paralysis. However, how can be able to overcome this?

The process of letting go of perfection and revising the project to an actual standard of the time when something is released for the general public to enjoy can be an arduous task. For help to accomplish this, we asked two experienced experts to share their experiences in overcoming the fear of perfection in an online summit on August 2022. Watch the video on YouTube:

Before we dive into the details, we'll meet the presenters.

Why do people get too focused on the pursuit of perfection?

What strategies do you have to overpower perfection?

Digital products don't have to have to be flawless, but they must still reach the quality required for them to make a profit. How can a creator reset their expectations and set a new standard of excellence that's going to benefit their brand and business?

Grace says:

"Consider the impact of your brand's logo in relation to the quality of information and materials you'll release? Does it communicate a compelling tale of what you have to offer? Then, of course, you must ensure whenever you make an edit, that you have high-quality video and audio. All those things that are most likely to make your customer experience as good as possible.

In my opinion, it's the most important thing is you should just go for it. You don't need a huge production team to make an amazing video. You can make something amazing on your iPhone. Make sure there's nothing behind and the sound quality is top-notch.

What's the very first move an author of knowledge could make to create the first digital product?

   Steve says:

"I discover that a lot of business owners get carried away with their message and they're focused on the marketplace. It's crucial to think about whether you find a buyer that will accept my message? How can you find out if there's any market to your message?

It's quite simple to ask certain questions like:

  1. What's the issue that my passion or words will help you solve?
  2. Who is the person who suffers from this issue and who requires this remedy?
  3. Who are you legally bound to serve?
  4. How are you going to locate them?
  5. What will they do to find you?
  6. How much can they spend?
  7. What's the main reason why someone would choose you over from the millions of choices you have?

We will assist you in getting your knowledge out to the international group of experts (finally!)
