What is your background?

"My name is Sylvia Boomer Yang. I'm an illustrator, animator, and GIF artist from Brooklyn, New York. As part of my job as an artist I make motion graphics, animated illustrations and storyboards for explainers video series and apps. However, what I truly love to do in my spare time is create fun and unique animated graphics as well as stickers that help people smile, and allow them to be themselves."

"I have a family in Taiwan and was enrolled in fine art school in my early years. I was always drawn to drawing but I began to be stymied with a traditional educational method. I felt like I could not express my personality and voice through the classical methods in art. Learning about fine art certainly helped me build the foundation for where I am today."

"I switched into design college in my college before moving in New York for grad school. This was when I started experimenting using animations and digital art. Animation gave me the power to combine animation and motion to convey a message through a fluid way. I really enjoyed discovering how to make still images come to life."

"Collaboration/teamwork is one of the keys I evaluate a lot. I like how individuals come up with ideas as a team. I also think that great work usually is created by a team comprised of individuals with distinct strengths and abilities.

Everyday, I'm not going to stop making items that inspire me. When not designing, or creating motion graphics, I can be seen making a chaos in my kitchen (lots cook!) as well as making craft projects. I often visit Brooklyn market and try my hand using various recipes at my home. The world is full of wonderful things. I love to travel and explore diverse communities, cultures as well as innovative art."
