Here Is Why Mobile Learning Matters -

Dec 2, 2022

Mobile learning shouldn't be ignored. In fact, you should avoid this at your own risk!

A shift is taking place in the way people use digital media.

Given this shift to mobile devices, it is important for instructional designers to understand how they should create their courses in a way that is efficient with these kinds of devices.

It is my personal opinion that mobile learning will soon become more popular as an alternative to traditional methods of elearning.

It doesn't mean that elearning is going to disappear it's just not true whatsoever. It will still very much perform a function in the world of digital learning.

However, I am of the opinion that mobile learning use will overtake the elearning model we have today.

There is evidence of this everywhere. Take a look at the research studies mentioned in the infographic below (created in part by Origin Learning).

Like many infographics devoted to mobile learning it stresses the growing utilization (dependency) of mobile tools like smartphones and tablets, which in turn means an overall decline in desktop and laptop computers.

In fact, a whopping 80% of internet users do so by using a smartphone!

These are figures that can't be overlooked in any field or even in the field of e-learning.

The question isn't "if" mobile learning will become significant, but "when". Many would say that there is already a trend and may be right. However, it is only going to increase in the future.

If you're organization doesn't utilize some form of mobile learning you're being left out of a huge opportunity.
