Five Reasons to Join Our New Slack Community: Global SaaS Leadership •

Mar 23, 2022

The TL;DR version of this article is this:

  • We have just launched a brand fresh (free!) Slack community: Global SaaS Leaders.
  • It's open to leaders at established SaaS and software companies (including founders! ).

Why we're starting a free Slack community

Because communities are awesome!

No, seriously.

There are many additional SaaS and software communities out on the market. A lot of them are fantastic.

When we began to think about making the type of community wouldlike to be member of, we realized that there was the opportunity to make something brand new.

We have created Global SaaS Leaders as a area with five distinct characteristics:

1. Global Focus

There were many SaaS and software community that were U.S.-based or focused around a specific area.

Global SaaS Leaders will be different. may be located in the U.S., but our customers as well as the wider SaaS community span all over the world.

As we grow our community, we'll be focused on acquiring a wide membership and a global perspective.

2. Created for the top executives from established SaaS and software companies

One of the most engaging software conversations we found on the internet were about the idea of starting an entirely new SaaS business:

These conversations are beneficial for those who are trying to build an SaaS.

In the end, we noticed it was actually extremely difficult to find useful discussions between the leaders of established software and SaaS companies.

That's why we've decided to create the community of SaaS entrepreneurs who think about expanding and scaling up an established software business instead of building the minimum feasible products or seeking seed funding.

If you're a life-long entrepreneur that has a bootstrapped SaaS which is currently generating $10,000 per month, we want to assist you in connecting with others just like you.

Same if you're the development leader at a venture-backed start-up that just crossed $10 million annually.

This is the goal we will pursue on the upcoming Global SaaS Leaders: to provide a forum that you can share your thoughts on the challenges unique to your business after you reach product-market fit and start to expand.

3. Professionally moderated

It requires a committed and experienced moderator (or group with moderators!) to create a positive, supportive culture in a community.

There's a lot we've learned by observing the Reddit community r/entrepreneur, as an example.

Yet even the most reputable communities such as this can struggle to the focus. It's interesting that the number. #1 thread of the year a combative post about how the rise of cryptocurrency has dominated the newsfeed:

Katie Stephan and Nathan Collier (authors of this post!) will be the first moderators in the launch of our Global SaaS Leaders community.

We have spent more than an entire decade of in the field of moderating online communities, with thousands of users.

and building and launching this community is part of our jobs descriptions.

Our focus will be to SaaS and software -- and we'll make sure you don't need to contend with unwelcome offers, spam and personal attacks. trolling in any form.

4. It is not focused on venture capital , or funding rounds.

No matter what your situation is, we don't care. in a bootstrap, venture funded, private equity purchased, or some other ownership model.

The world's SaaS Leaders won't be a event that is primarily focused on exit or funding strategies.

Instead, we hope to establish a forum to have discussions about hiring, revenue and profit tools, pricing models, technical infrastructure, as well as anything other that can contribute to the growth of a successful software business.

It's fine if members occasionally discuss the topic of funding. However, it shouldn't be the only debate.

5. The most helpful SaaS as well as software communities on the web

There are some online communities that can be risky places.

No matter who you are, no matter where you're from and what you're from, we want you to feel comfortable posting and interacting in our community.

Katie as well as I are going to do everything we can to foster a supportive and positive environment in the new community. We will also ensure that we'll not stand for the personal attack, bigotry sexual discrimination, racism or any kind of disrespectful behavior.

Our goal is nothing less than this: to create the most supportive SaaS and software-based community online.
