Fantasy illustration - The CreativeMindClass Blog
How would you describe the style you prefer?
It's somewhere between stylized and real-life fantasy illustrations. I tend to use muted and aquatic color palettes and tend to work with organicand flowing forms. I believe that my "style" as a fantasy illustrator is heavily determined by my color palette as well as the subjects that I decide to paint but not always what the painting is done. I was previously working with a more linear style but I've recently moved to a looser and more expressive style.
What's the secret for creating drawings of fantasy art?
I'm constantly re-examining them until the image looks closest to the way I imagine it in my head (within reasons, else I'd spend months on a single painting). I try really hard to challenge my ideas and not settle for a mediocre image. I'd prefer to take a long amount of time to get the perfect fantasy image than rush through the process.
Where can people see your fantasies?
I'll be participating in the coming "Oceans and Currents" exhibition at Gallery Nucleus during July! While you wait I'm via Instagram. I do sell prints through my store Bandcamp for those who are interested!
And I also have a Youtube and Bandcamp for those interested in my music, as I will be releasing new songs soon.
Her Background
I earned my diploma from the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California, and I currently work in the field of entertainment art as a concept artist and illustrator. Additionally, I am working on a artistic project, known as Pearl Farm, for which I draw drawings. I write, as well as sing my own songs.
The illustrations for the article come drawn from my own work, Pearl Farm. This is my story that I wrote that follows a travel musician known as Vinny and her pet ray Hubble while they travel their way across a world called the Lofty Coastline.
