Fantasy illustration - The CreativeMindClass Blog

What would you say about the style you prefer?

It's somewhere between stylized as well as real-life fantasy illustrations. I tend to use colors that are muted and watery and generally work with natural, fluid shapes. I believe that my "style" as a fantasy illustrator is heavily determined by the colors I use and what subject matter I choose to draw however, not the way it's painted. I previously worked using a much more straight-line approach, however I've moved to a looser and more expressive style.

What's the secret to making your artworks of fantasy?

Sweating over them until it is closest to how I see it in my head (within the reason that I don't want to spend months on a single painting). I try really hard to make my designs more complex to the limit and never settle for a mediocre illustration. I'd rather take lots of time to get the perfect fantasy image than rush through it.

What are the best places to show your fantasies?

I'll be part of the upcoming "Oceans and Currents" show on display at Gallery Nucleus in July! In the meantime, you can find me through Instagram. I do sell prints through my store Bandcamp if anyone would be curious!

And I also have a YouTube as well as Bandcamp to those who are interested in my work since I'll release more tracks very soon.

The Background of Brigitte

I received my degree in The Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California, and I am currently employed in the industry of entertainment arts as conceptual artist and illustrator. I also have an ongoing creative project called Pearl Farm, for which I draw illustrations. I write, as well as perform original songs.

Illustrations for the article are taken drawn from my own work, Pearl Farm. This is my story that I wrote, it follows a traveling musician called Vinny along with her pet ray Hubble as they make their way through a vast globe known as The Lofty Coastline.
