Colored Pencil Flowers CreativeMindClass Blog

If I were forced to pick a word to represent my style of drawing I would choose 'Spring'.

I would like people to look at my drawings and feel the way they're blossoming just like warm spring blooming flowers.

Cottagecore is my lifestyle that I have chosen and believe in. The reason might be that I'm from Seoul which is a large city which is why I appreciate nature and the countryside much more than what I take in every day.

So rather than spreading intensity rather, I try to convey a serene and peaceful mood as I do in nature.

What's the most important thing for creating illustrations?

In the beginning, I'd like to share the things that I find motivation in. I focus on happiness from the smallest items. Flowers I see in the garden, the whispers of flowers fluttering when the wind blows, even a small flower at the corner of a road I pass as I walk.

My work is mostly inspired by tiny wildflowers. Natural landscapes from old botanical encyclopedias, and landscapes from rural areas are also part of my ideas. I keep a large amount of content through pictures and usually take notes of colored pencil art ideas.

Then, let's look at the method of working. I create drawings to the level of elaborate details in the manner of actual flowers. I also convey my emotions by using color.

I make use of sharp colored pencils that precisely express the shape that the flowers take. I then set a soft and warm mood by using pastel tones rather than strong shades.

I like also to juxtapose plain and textured paper together with the flower method of paper to create the impression of flowers blooming.

In contrast to drawing simply, I think crafting paper flowers creates a much better atmosphere. This is the closest representation of what I have in my head.

My name's Yeo Jin. I'm a colored pencil artist illustrator and writer living in Seoul. My artwork is based around flowers because they always provide me with joy!

My publications include six coloring pencil instructional books. I have also collaborated with various brands to illustrate. I currently give lectures to aspiring drawing artists and I make products can be sold in stores online and in local shops.

I have my colorful pencil artwork through Instagram and at my website.

I'd like to introduce my Youtube channel. My vlogs are about traveling but also have numerous travel sketches and inspirations (mostly colored pencil art) which I create during my travels.
