The fiber-artist Amanda Adams

I'm a fiber artist as well as an illustrator based in Baltimore. I moved here for school at Maryland Institute College of Art. Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) in which Nicole Mueller and I met and became friends before we began Beyond the Studio. Beyond the Studio podcast together. Over the last nine years I've worked hard to build my small art business close Call Studio where I work in full-time.

What is your style?

My art style, whether that's drawing, sewing or anything else is non-self-conscious designed to please and inspire people. My style can be moody or direct and some of my work can be kinda darker, but I always have some humor and a sense of play.

What's the secret in creating your artwork?

The process varies from season to year, however having the mindset that is "no pressure" at the drawing table is absolutely key for me right now. I've put on a lot amount of stress on myself, which did not reflect well in my work or the rest of my life. Creating space for rest and gardening is just as important to my process as sitting down to draw.
