The process of connecting to your authentic self, the core of who one is.

Angela Maria Sierra, a spanish-born artist who portrays the real herself and the emotions she's feeling. The result is in the form of models with a rich emotional life that are full of compassion as well as ease and happiness.

Her name is more well-known in the art world as Riso Chan, who is a portrait artist and an art teacher currently living within The Netherlands. The artist is about to begin her artistic journey with videos and the creation of her own YouTube channel! This is something she's wanted to do for a very long period of. Bravely storming through uncomfortable conversations with cameras, she made a fun-to-watch video about herself as well as her work as well as her surroundings for creativity.

Artist Vlog - Riso Chan

Riso Chan talks about accepting her sensitive true self through her art work:

My work is deeply emotionally charged. My work is based on portraits which depict the emotions that I feel. I was always a very sensitive person. Since I was a child I've had a feeling that made me feel uncomfortable and I tried to ignore it. (...) As you mature, you realise that actually everything is fine and everybody feels differently. I decided to use my emotional energy that I carry into my daily life and start painting. It is a way to boost my creative juices and generate fresh ideas. That is amazing because the thing I had been pushing down all my life, all of a sudden I was able to put it on piece of paper and felt like such a feeling of relief. There is finally the possibility to utilize this feeling, and I can use these emotions pleasures, hurts, and pains and write them down. This was a truly amazing experience and led me to a state that was filled with gratitude. It began to resonate with number of others too. It was a time of opening myself to putting ideas onto paper that I had did not think of prior to. As opposed to trying to look similar to other artists who had already "made it" I listened to what I want to convey and who I am as a person. I accepted something I did not like about myself , and then realized this was my true power. I'm very happy to be my authentic, sensitive self.
