My story
My name is Ekaterina Boguslavskaya. I grew up in Russia.
I attended college in Moscow However, I lived in the countryside.
The water was not hot The house was heated by a furnace as well as the neighbor's raised cows and goats. Wonderful times! In addition to nature and bikes, I was obsessed with animation. All my peers were grown up and no longer enjoyed cartoons. I was contrary! I realized it could become my favorite thing to do. That's how I got into film school at Moscow, Russia.
My style
I want my drawings to always bring out some deeply emotional sensations. As if you are sitting with a fire in the middle of an afternoon of ski or hiking in the mountains.
My process
I am awestruck by drawing. The process has a lot in common with meditation. While I'm at work in the dark, it might get dark, and I'll become hungry, but nothing really affects me while working.
Presently, I am employed in the industry of animation and illustration... and I even design board games. I truly love my job.
I've always been drawing lots. But it started to look better after I completed my studies. Because I began to decide the way and what I would draw.
My suggestion to skeptical visual artists
Consider what you enjoy and you will surely enjoy your time with it. Try to listen less to the opinions of others who you don't appreciate what they're doing. It will all work out! You will meet people who are going to be enthralled by what you're doing.
My technique
I draw almost everything on my iPad in Procreate. I sometimes finish some thing in Photoshop.
The iPad has improved my daily life. Now I work in my bed, at cafes, libraries. I choose a place for work and wander around and don't just sit in front of my computer. So the iPad is an amazing tool that combines classic drawing and computer drawing.
The iPad comes with amazing brushes. For example, I bought watercolor brushes from "The Watercolor MaxPack - Brushes for Procreate". I get excited every time I make use of the brushes. They are as close to real watercolors as is possible.
Some words on what I do for job.
I try to make an approximate outline of objects. Since I find hard lines rough and cold.
Sometimes I make my shadows cold and bluish by using the multiply setting. Sometimes I use overlay. But I don't understand that very much.
Procreate has some good blur options, check these out! There are several varieties, which are very effective. The majority of the time, I do with traditional tools on paper or canvas.
I'm still searching, still studying my subjects, and trying to get closer to my image that I love by creating my own projects.
The Teriberka series. Teriberka series
I did after traveling there (to Teriberka). Russian North, the Arctic. It was a town that used to build ships and take a great deal of fish. Now it's kind of abandoned.
It is a beautiful image. Please google it! It's stunning.
I always like the North.
I like the animals, the people, the millions of shades of moss. Small berries are packed with nutrients, and are more nutritious than the tropical fruit. This is quite impressive.
Northern cliffs look like the skin of huge elephants! This is the feeling which I have tried to portray in the pictures.
Concerning the Tiny Things series
The idea came to my head after I had become exhausted from work, the pandemic and the urban environment.
I bought a macro lens and went into the forest. What a stunning beauty was under my feet! Every inch of nature was beautiful. It gave me lots of energy to create. This is how the project was born.
In spite of everything it is possible to find a miracle that is right there!
How I organize my time at work
The most difficult thing to do is control your time and relaxation and to refuse requests that aren't appropriate. or to do a lot of work in order to stay afloat and not get tired by doing what you enjoy. This is all I'm still learning.
The creative blockages
The hard aspect is actually the procedure itself and sometimes the process doesn't come out as expected. The result isn't what I want. You can go through up to eight hours and get angry. And then a couple of days afterwards, you can redo it in an hour and it looks great. What's that? Magic.
A few tips on how to overcome creativity blocks
In the event of completing some type of task - do not take a moment to draw (if it's possible). Your brain should be able to process the task on the side while busy doing other things. It's the way I see that the most effective solutions will come.
My view of my work
If I were to grade my work, I would never give myself an "excellent". It's very exhausting and I torture myself. On the other hand, it drives me to move forward.
Drawing is like a great adventure!
Tickets are available for a destination, and you have a knowledge of it from Google but something might surprise you on the spot. It seems as if it would be a great adventure for me.
There are other works by Ekaterina on, and keep an eye out for an extension of this show through Instagram , Artstation or Behance.
