Revolutionary indoor garden kit Gardyn uses in order to place a Gardyn in every home. The Gardyn brand is featured on Forbes, Good Housekeeping, Time, Real Simple, Goop and many more. Gardyn selected it because of its scaleability and customization. And they've used tools like Trustpilot, Affirm, Klaviyo, and Amazon Pay to improve their online marketing, and convert rates.

Meet Gardyn

The founder as well as CEO FX Rouxel began Gardyn in 2019, it was founded with a clear and attainable purpose: to create a world where everyone was able to access cheap and convenient food that was all natural that was grown sustainably without a negative impact on the environment.

With the Gardyn indoor gardening method it is possible to grow plants, fruits, vegetables, and greens in only two square feet of space, with the same yield that would require more than a thousand square feet for a traditional outdoor garden!

An app gives customers access to the device which allows them to set their light and water schedule or put it into vacation mode or purchase more cubes of Y, which are the plant's seedlings.

The history of Gardyn

Gardyn was launched in the year the year 2019 and released its initial prototype in February of 2020, at the same time they unveiled their brand new website with .

Following his move into the U.S., Rouxel was disappointed that he was unable to find fruits and vegetables that tasted like the fresh, natural produce of his homeland of Provence, France. This quest for tastes from his childhood that inspired him to develop the Gardyn method. Instead of focusing on ways to solve the problem at the beginning of the process -- helping the wider agricultural industry -- FX focused on the final consumer. Today, nearly anyone is able to cultivate their own food without any hassle or space.

The system was created by collaborating in collaboration with McGill University in Canada, it is the only one made specifically to be used indoors to cultivate more than 30 plants.

The company was launched at a time of COVID-19 renewed interest around the globe in family-run environmentally sustainable food and household projects, the business grew. It is headquartered at Bethesda, Maryland, Gardyn currently has a remote workforce with more than 50 employees.

The engine that has led Gardyn to success

We had a chat with Ava, who's responsible for their marketing and website. Ava first met Gardyn when she was working for an agency that they employed for their marketing. She became absorbed by Gardyn's mission and the enthusiasm of Gardyn's leadership team.

"I am in love with this company." she said "They wanted to make marketing internal and I was not ready to leave. That's why I requested to stay , and I was hired full-time."

Her passion for her work is apparenther personality resembles an entrepreneur than a head of Website.

The Choice

Ava was instrumental in selecting as the preferred platform. Ava isn't an expert in development, however she does have some experience with WordPress.

"The reasons we went with Shopify was that it worked nicely with WordPress and provided us with the maximum flexibility. We couldn't afford to create an additional cookie cutter Shopify store. Shopify could be an issue to modify. You'd definitely require an developer...and there wasn't one.

However, since I do have some experience using WordPress, though not very much  the platform, I was able to google my way through the process of creating our brand new website."

The first iteration of their website was designed entirely in-house, using Elementor as the platform, with no developers. The site had everything they required to get off the ground with a Product Detail Page (PDP) and membership capabilities, and an intuitive shopping cart and checkout experience to customers.

"There were, obviously there were some issues with growth," adds Ava. "Just trying to plan to increase scaleability. We'd code something another way, then, after two months it would be necessary return since I hadn't thought further in the future."

Luckily, gave Gardyn the freedom to grow quickly as the company soared in popularity -- even from one month to the next.

As the head of website, Ava keeps a close watch on the metrics. "I would like to know whether, when they arrive on the homepage, do they go to the PDP? From there, I like to see the PDP in the form of an "add to shopping cart" rate, and then clearly, to add it to check out. I just want everything to flow smoothly throughout the process. In particular, those metrics that are crucial to me -"PDP to conversion, cart to conversion, checkout to conversion." PDP to conversion, cart to conversion, the checkout process to conversion."

The most effective way for her how to boost these metrics is via customer feedback.

Reviews from Trustpilot

One of the biggest challenges her job as a marketer is in educating consumers about what Gardyn is and what it is in comparison to other home-grown food systems.

"It's saying to people that we've got Tesla however, If they've never even driven or driven, what do they think a Tesla is? It's been a challengecommunicating it in a way so they know how it will fit in their daily lives. It's not just another task or pastime that's about disappear. It's so simple and always available."

One method to solve this issue, they discovered, is by using user-generated content (UGC), which is in the form of reviews. The Gardyn team saw the potential in reviews, however, they needed a platform that can consolidate reviews into the same place. It also needed to be authentic.

The company started out with a different platform however, they quickly switched to Trustpilot that has dramatically improved the effectiveness of the reviews.

"It builds a sense confidence when people visit the Trustpilot site and check that reviews and reviewers are real. They also write reviews with five stars. We're not giving them any incentive, it's the desire of our customers to share with us what they think of Gardyn."

When it comes to getting reviews, Gardyn communicates via email to individual customers that are engagedas long-time members. They also reach out in an online group on Facebook, where members are working together and succeeding to to get the maximum value from the system.

Trustpilot makes it easy to do more with the feedback they get.

"The Backend experience with Trustpilot makes it much simpler to handle, and see, and be able to download particular reviews, and other such. It allows us to connect with reviewers, request photographs, or even get additional articles for our blog in order for a more human experience and emotional bond.

We especially found it useful to design ads and review cards using Trustpilot. I'm able to download all the SVG files really easily. The system is already designed to follow the highest standards of practice which is very helpful."

Reviewing the website and also in the marketing field has been proven to be important.

"I did video user experience feedback where people went through the website and spoke out loud about their experience as well as their thoughts. Eight out of ten of them said something like, 'Oh reviews! This is good.' We also use testimonials in every email. In every footer, we provide Trustpilot reviews -- every single footer."

In the real world, the result speak for themselves.

When Gardyn incorporates reviews into their Facebook ads, their click-through rate increases by a factor of two. When they also added reviews to the site, engagement went up and bounce rates went down.

Integrating additional tools and features for success

Ava has already stated that the choice to use for their store was partly, due to the flexible design of the store. However, how exactly do you manifest that?

Extensions.

"I'm self-taught, so I've learnt to Google. I've learned to learn. You're not going to know what extension works until you test it. Therefore, the 30-day refund policy is extremely beneficial.

The best part is it's because WordPress is an open source software, and with it being open source, there are so many options to choose from. There's so much to choose from, you'll be able to find exactly what you need. There's always an extension to everything I'm looking for.

She claims that Trustpilot as well as Affirm certainly have had the greatest impact on their site's success.

"It was extremely simple to incorporate into . I don't know the reason we hadn't utilized it earlier. Klaviyo quickly understands exactly how to use the funnel. We actually doubled the number of people we can capture from abandoned carts since Klaviyo is able to connect abandoned carts using a pop up. I think we have close to 50,000 subscribers currently."

Implementing express pay

The MyGardyn website introduced express pay options in the month of November, 2021. It immediately saw adoption by customers. There was a lot of acceptance. Today more than 40% of all desktop transactions and 60% of mobile purchases use express payments. As a tally of every transaction 30% of transactions are made using a credit card, and 20% use Affirm.

However, the most significant thing to note is that they witnessed an increase of 50% in mobile transactions compared with desktop over the same period. This highlights the significance of using payments that are express including Apple Pay, Google Pay as well as Amazon Pay.

"It's very nice" Ava says. Ava, "The express pay options have greatly raised our conversion rate and mobile sales. It's really minimal, too."

"If you think about it, everyone has Amazon. It's saying, 'Oh yes I've got it. I'm already signed up to the application. It's only two minutes. The abandonment rate is 17% in that case. This is really low."

In the direction of the future

Gardyn aims to bring everyone an easy access to healthy food. An Gardyn inside every household obviously, but that is the ultimate aim.

The firm is working on a G3 Initiative, called Gardyn Grows to Good, working together with non-profit organizations and schools to bring food to food shortages and affected communities. This project ultimately helps provide healthful and affordable meals to communities with low incomes.

If asked for advice that she would offer to others, she won't begrudge it.

"Don't be afraid to take on large adjustments," says Ava. "A website can never be finished. It's always growing. It's always changing. Take your time and be sure to follow the facts I would highly recommend Trustpilot and I highly.

If you're selling something or doing marketing that is hardcore make sure you're doing it to do something that improves the quality of life and feels at ease when someone buys the product."

Then, Ava also shared her most loved things that she grows within the garden of her Gardyn: "My favorite thing is known as Red Mustard. It's a very spicy salad and it is similar to horseradish. It's great for sandwiches! It also grows cherries and strawberries that tasted so sweet. I've never experienced anything as delicious."
