May 8, 2024

Jo Kelly isn't your average acting teacher.

Actually, she doesn't employ the term "teacher" not once "I am not teaching individuals how to behave" she states. "I help people not act."

Through exercises that are experiential, Jo coaches mainly actors as well as artists of all sort and non-artist "seekers" on ways to find their inner peace and to be who they are. This way, actors are able to stop performing and begin themselves. "I am hoping to become an acupuncturist more than a trainer, as I help people return back to their real self and become reborn," she explains.

She believes that the performance of an actor is dependent on their capacity and ability in committing themselves fully to their character. "When you are secured fully, the story and the viewers are affected" she declares.

With her distinctive style of coaching athletes she helps them with engaging with their fascination from childhood, interest and fun. What exactly does that mean? They offer authentic, vibrant and honest performance.

In the year 2016, Jo changed her coaching style from face-to-face and launched an online-based company by . Since, she's managed to create three consecutive education-based journeys and has helped more than 8,000 clients. The team has experienced incredible results since working together with Jo and they've secured roles at the top studios including Netflix, HBO, Disney, Showtime, ABC Studios as well as many more.

This is how she created an online business that she's passionate about:

She researched her topic.

Jo took a different path towards acting.

Born in Belgium She earned her MBA following which she became a specialist in the fields of human resource management and psychosystemic psychology. Then, she began working in corporate coaching. "The corporate world never felt as it did in the way I was used to," she shares. "I made the choice to get out of everything, relocate to Paris to start all over ."

One of the reasons she decided to start over was trying her hand at acting. She fell in love with. She was hardworking, committed person. She put all of her time and money in learning to become the most effective actress she could become.

Despite the dedication she has to her craft She says that she was an exceptional actress, but she was not a great actor. Like many actors they were plagued with anxiety on the stage. "Most of my fellow actors had the same issues," she says. "We had all been extremely enthusiastic about acting, but when it was time to perform the role, we were terrified. ."

She was interested in the obstacles that were preventing them and other actors from being an excellent actor. "My curiosity became an obsession," The actress says. "I am interested in understanding why actors who are so committed and devoted reduce their perform. ."

In the span of a few years, she investigated the reasons why actors feel frustrated. Her study led to an awareness that when kids are playing they are in charge. When adults engage in play it's like they're losing freedom because of societal pressures. "When I was aware of this, I spent the rest of my time helping actors overcome their limitations in order to let them play and express their authentic self with the same enthusiasm and innocence that they used to have," explains Jo.

She began as a coach

Jo's experiential research led her to explore various techniques for somatic healing that she tried with other clients through private and group coaching in the mid 2000s. After a few years, she decided to name her business Be Or Not To Act.

Her students had no the responsibility. "No regardless of how committed those I worked with were, they weren't able to attend every day. While we met at least three times per week, accountability was not there between sessions. The ball would be dropped with no problem when they weren't with me." Jo declares. Jo.

The instructor decided that online classes could help students to remain constant in their practices. The instructor describes her online classes as "journeys," and the course she will first guide students through will be The Reset: From Resistance to Freedom The Reset was designed in 2014. "I created The Reset so that I was able to be in the hands with people on a 33-day journey," she explains.
"Since the site is available the users are able to use it at their own pace and create their own schedules."

Jo believes we all have a natural core, but societal pressures insist us to act as we think, feel, and behave in a specific way. As per Jo that the goal of The Reset is to help people go through daily exercises to help them get free of their habitual behaviour and revert back to their natural character. Every day during The Reset, Jo offers pre-recorded exercises. Jo provides two Q&A sessions, and two pods to work in groups as well as the semi-Q&A sessions in which she answers frequent questions in an exclusive Facebook group.

Being able to adjust the schedule of the online experience lets Jo's participants take the classes at any point in time, whether they are getting up, prior to falling asleep and whenever they find some time. "The greatest benefit is the fact that you are able to make the sessions fit in with your daily schedule," she explains.

She created an online company which allowed her to live an easier and more flexible life

When Jo first began her own online Reset journey, she was able to keep track of every session and posted it on her site. After a few years she switched over to the platform after having been recommended to use the service by her trainer. "You have people who know what you're doing, and I don't" she laughs.

Over the past few years since entering the world of online coaching, Jo's life has shifted. When she conducted the interview, she spoke from the hospital where she was joined by her daughter. "Eight years ago my baby was born with a genetic specification and requires regular hospitalization every month," she shares.

" allows me to be mother and be in charge of my life and still run a successful business, even when I'm in the hospital while my daughter is receiving her regular transfusions," she adds. "Working online means I can be able to take care of my daughter the way that I want to do and remain close with her. This allows me to travel to hospital for medical needs but still be able to have a career I'm passionate about, without stress ."

She created subsequent journeys

Once people complete The Reset, they have the option of joining a three-month program called The Actor with a Purpose. The Purposeful Actor journey is a three-hour session for twelve weeks. "The participants there are somewhat more autonomous when it comes to responsibility and being themselves. There are some routines to follow every day however they can't depend on me for motivation to complete it. They must come up with their own objectives which is precisely the point." Jo writes.

Jo also offers Q&A sessions in the Purposeful Actor Journey that occur every 3 weeks. When they've accomplished the Purposeful Journey and feel prepared, participants can choose to sign up for a year-long membership known as BAMF Actors In Action, that is an acronym for BAMF, which stands for Bad Ass Mom F***king Actors In Action. "I created this membership because people who had finished these two walks would like to further the training they received on this path," she says.

The program for members is running for the past four years. it includes one content program each month, as well as group discussions through weekly pods, each month, Q&A with Jo, and a six-hour summit once every three months. "The membership lets members choose how they want to take on the world and accomplish the things they're supposed to be doing, and get involved in the business, make their own content and raise the bar on their work," she explains.

She was a performer with every kind

As per Jo she is of the opinion that the vast majority of her clients in her journeys include actors. There are many types of artists, such as dancers, writers, storytellers and musicians, as well regular people who "want to rid themselves of their physical limitations," such as mothers and professionals like professional athletes, television hosts, professional athletes, and therapy professionals. "Freedom is a concern to all who want to express themselves fully," she says.

As the trips are provided in English they attract travellers all over the world. "We are a diverse group of people on all continents, but most of them come originated from America, Europe, and Australia," she shares.

The majority of her clients are between 20 and 50. Some of her audience members are currently entering the third decade of their lives. it's not unusual for her to welcome those who are in their 70s or 80s into her sessions.

The client allowed her to do all her talking

Regarding marketing her journeys, Jo says the word was spread mostly through word of word of.

On the homepage of her website, she's included the video reel from her testimonial. This provides proof of social status and adds credibility to the efforts of her. Additionally, visitors to the site can sign up to the newsletter on her site. To gather emails, she gives two workshops to lead-generators for no cost, including Stop Trying To BE A Great Actor for a chance to be Excellent and The Instinctive Actor. Not only do these trainings assist her in capturing her clients' information, but they also give attendees with a glimpse into her coaching style.

She also has an Instagram page, which has more than 10,000 followers. It also receives press from external sources like interviews with various podcasts, blogs, and even in magazines.

She chose to pay a rate that's affordable.

Jo is determined to ensure that her trips are affordable for all, since actors generally make a fluctuating wage. "If you visited one class per week, you'd pay anywhere from $300-$400. The majority of the time, you just sit there watching other students perform scenes and sometimes, you're given the chance to be a participant" she says.

"These online trips offer a cheaper alternative that is less expensive," continues Jo. "The benefit of our travels are 10 times more than what we offer them for ."

The Reset is priced lower than $1000 USD. The price for the Purposeful Actor is $1250 USD. A membership fee of $270 USD is charged for a month.

She was never out of her zone of the genius

Although she's the company's chief executive officer To Be Or Not To Act, Jo is firm in her desire to spend all of her the time she needs in her realm of genius--which is making content and coaching. Jo does not believe she's tech-savvy, preferring to stay "in the moment" doing her best work. "The other aspects of running a business aren't my area of expertise because this isn't the area where I excel," she explains.

Jo says her achievement is due to employing a coach right from the very beginning. It was the time to build evergreen experiences, she decided to take the chance and purchase a $20K course in order to master the art of doing so. "It was an enormous amount, and that meant I had to get a loan of half the funds. It was fortunate that I got it done," she explains.

She thinks it's feasible for anyone to develop an online course that's profitable. But she cautions that this isn't an easy task.

"It demands dedication and perseverance as well as have a passion for your work. I'm the only one who has done it. I've ever done since changing careers at the age of twenty, and it's all I'll ever undertake. My passion for it is what makes it so that even whenever it's tough, when it gets tough I'm there for the process ."

She created from the heart

The author suggests creators of online businesses to be honest about the work they'll have to put into building an online company. They should do it only when the area they're teaching is one which is close to their hearts.

"The chance is now that when you go on social media, everybody is an expert and everybody declares that you can achieve millions in a matter of seconds, but that's not the truth," says Jo. "It is true that you hold something close to your heart, and you wish to share it with others larger than residents in your area. It requires effort, and that includes falling down and then getting up. The process involves coaching and investing your cash and time until the framework is in place ."

Like Jo When you create an organization from your heart it will provide you with the drive to persevere regardless of the difficult circumstances.

"An online business shouldn't be just an opportunity to make money. It's a project that should be conceived from the heart and built upon the job you're expected to do. If you don't do this, it's likely to be dropped because it's difficult to manage." she says.

"If you're really serious then you'll face the obstacles. If you're looking in search of a quick cash flow and you're not able to take on these challenges. My best suggestion I could provide is to stay true to your passions to you. It's crucial to be with the best level of performance at the work you're performing in the face of a massive amount of competition. It's essential to be confident in what you're doing. ."

Her integrity was maintained with her work

In response to a question about what kind of courses we should expect to be by 2024 Jo thinks there will continue to be a surplus of online courses. She says that the main difference between "McDonald's" classes and "gourmet" programs are those that have been designed using integrity.

"When you are surrounded by an abundance of stuff, there'll be two kinds of work online. There will be McDonald's type courses There will also be the reliable and gourmet courses. There will be a common goal to do something or accomplish some other thing with your life, but it won't be out of a place of honesty. Then there'll be some who have been going at this for years," she says.

In order to create a gourmet-style obviously, her advice is to go back to your heart.

"There is an incredible possibility for anybody who has a firm foot in their soul and aspires to give back," she continues. "The individuals who need your help will come across you ."

"I'm thankful for this ability that allows us to connect as human beings with what is important for us. It's incredible."
